With tools for organaizing copied Wii games like Wii Backup Manager and WBFS Manager 3.0 im most cases you can compress 4.37 GB wii iso files down to half of that. In fact wbfs doesn't compress the game data, but rather it removes / compressis the unused padding space that is filled with ones and zeros to fill up a full DVD. Wii USB backup loader and more. WiiFlow Lite Wii USB backup loader and more. Info Downloads / Week; This project has no files. At the moment, both Wiiflow and Nintendont work perfectly seperately (wiiflow for wii games, nintendont for GC games). I have changed the default GC game loader in wiiflow to nintendont, and changed the path towards the correct path on the USB (usb1:/games). Still, I only see wii games in Wiiflow.

History

The name WiiFlow is derived from a combination of Wii and Coverflow. Wii because it was originally made to play Wii games on the Wii and Coverflow because it displays the game covers in a Coverflow style like that found on Apple Inc. products such as the iPhone, iPod, and iTunes.
WiiFlow is based on WiiFlow 1.1 by Hibernatus. After Hibernatus completed WiiFlow 1.1, he left the project and released it as open source in 2009. Lustar (Zorglub07) started and became owner of the WiiFlow google source code pages and the first developers were Narolez, thedarkness1981 (nIxx), and later r-win who quickly released 2.0 in 2010. Then Miigotu joined r-win and they released 2.1 and shortly after that 2.2 and eventually 3.0 in 2011. Fix94, OverjoY, and team took over and released 3.1 and after lots of modifying and adding new features released the much improved WiiFlow 4 in 2012. Through the next year 4.1 and 4.2 were released in 2013. Beta's were committed in 2014 but never became a official release. The last commit was WiiFlow beta 4.2.2 r1076. Currently official WiiFlow production has come to a stand still as well as almost all other homebrew apps for the wii and no one knows when or if Fix94 will work on it again. Abdallahterro took r1076 and r1054 and made his own mods called WiiFlow MasterPiece Mod. He's also made it into a pack for SD card with all the necessary files and folders you need for emu nands, plugins, neek2o, d2x cios, carbonik Abz theme, source menu stuff, etc.. Fledge68 has taken r1076 and masterpiece mod and made his own mod of WiiFlow and calls it WiiFlow Lite. WiiFlow Lite is a continuation of WiiFlow with theme changes, updates for nintendont compatibility, and some features removed, such as fanart, ftp server and dios mios (lite) support. WiiFlow Lite is the most up to date and can also be used as a replacement for WiiFlow.

Some of you might be using other loaders because either WiiFlow doesn't look all that great to you in terms of visuals or perhaps you once tried it but couldn't quite get it to work. My goal with this post is to point out some tips and tricks with WiiFlow to make your hacked-Wii experience all that much better.

About two months ago, I made a post about my Wii laptop/hybrid that included a different WiiFlow look than normal. Some people have asked me about sharing how I did it and the files themselves. This is a guide to make those configurations with some other tips.

!!! This guide will assume that you have properly homebrewed your Wii and installed the WiiFlow master modpack (which can be found in the downloads below) !!!

1. Adjusting source menu plugin positions
3. Adjusting coverflow separately for each plugin

5. Nintendont through WiiFlow, using a physical memory card
7. Resources and downloads

WiiFlow by default will typically look something similar to this. If you're like me, less is more and you might not like having the menu so cluttered. Or you just might not even have enough plugins to use up all of that space. With some simple edits to the source_menu.ini file, you can arrange the plugin positions. For instance, in my setup, I only use 4 plugins and decided to place them each in the middle row (with custom icons and background images).

As mentioned before, the edit is quite simple. Open your source_menu.ini file with your preferred text editor. You can find the file in SD:WiiFlowsource_menu. In this file, there will most likely be several plugins listed, each under a header that looks like [BUTTON_X] where X is a number that corresponds to the plugin's position in WiiFlow's menu table. For example, take a look at one of my entries in my own source_menu.ini:

Notice that this is for my Nintendo 64 plugin (and I use Not64). We can see that [BUTTON_6] is the header and so it will be placed in position 6 of WiiFlow's table. Below is a little table to represent where all of the table positions are:

0123
4567
891011

Position 6 will be in the second row, third column. If I wanted to move my plugin to be the very first entry in the second row (i.e. position 4), I would simply need to change [BUTTON_6] to [BUTTON_4].

Note: Not all entries need to be occupied by a plugin. For example, in my configuration, I only have positions 4, 5, 6, and 7 filled which is the entire middle row. Also keep in mind that WiiFlow can have multiple pages of plugins, and the table above represents the positions for page 1 and so page 2 would begin with position 12. Continue this pattern for later pages and positions if you need to reach that far.

2. Adjusting source menu plugin icons

In addition to customizing where your plugins at the source menu, you can also customize how they look. This process will be a little bit more involved than simply changing plugin positions. For each plugin that you want to have a custom icon for, you will need to provide two images: a default image and then another image for when the icon is hovered over with the cursor. For example, notice how in this image I have my plugin icons darkened except for the one that is selected. Here is another look at my source menu where a different plugin is selected.

Again, open your source_menu.ini file with your preferred text editor. Now take a look at the entry for my Nintendo 64 plugin:

The first two lines I have under the plugin header are imageand image_s. The value that goes after the equals sign should be the exact name of image file you want to use including the file extension. image corresponds to the image that will be used when the plugin is not selected or being hovered over while image_s does correspond to the image that will be displayed when your plugin is hovered over.

Simply find online and/or edit your images, rename them to whatever you'd like to keep track of them, and drop them in the source_menu folder found in the SD:WiiFlowsource_menu directory of your SD card. Remember to assign the exact filename including extension to both image and image_s in the source_menu.ini for each plugin you plan to modify images for.

Note: WiiFlow does support transparent images for the icons.

One of the main attractions to WiiFlow is the coverflow setup that you can have. The coverflow is how the game library is displayed in WiiFlow and most of the coverflow options are fancy animations for your library.

Within WiiFlow, in the settings for each individual plugin, you can find an option called Adjust Coverflow (typically found on page 2 of settings). Here, you can adjust coverflow in several ways. Notice the number in the top left. This number represents the coverflow option. Click the number to browse through the different coverflow options available. Once you've found a coverflow that you like for that plugin, remember it.

Again, open your source_menu.ini file with your preferred text editor. Now take a look at the entry for my Nintendo 64 plugin:

Notice the last line I have under my Nintendo 64 plugin is emuflow. If this option does not exist, add it. The number that you assign to emuflow should be the same number that was found in the top left of Adjust Coverflow for the coverflow that you liked.

Note: If you want a different coverflow than the default for each of your plugins, you will need to repeat this process for each plugin you wish to change. In the example above, setting emuflow to 2 will only set coverflow option number 2 to my Nintendo 64 plugin. I also recall that sometimes the coverflow option I found in Adjust Coverflow did not always display that coverflow when assigned to emuflow. In other words, you may need to do some trial and error with emuflow to get the coverflow that you wanted. I do not know why this happens.

4. Adjusting game cover art coverflow

In addition to changing each plugin's coverflow, you can also make changes to that specific coverflow. To do so, head over to the Adjust Coverflow menu again found in the settings of any plugin. From here, you are given many options. The button to the right of the coverflow number in the top left can be toggled and when enabled, the selected game will have more focus put on it. Click the top middle button to switch between different things to edit. The bottom third of the screen should display the different values that you can edit. While you are editing, you are given a live preview of the edits. Once you are happy with your edits, click SAVE in the top right. Click CANCEL found below the save option to disregard any edits.

If you have boxart that is different than the typical game case (tall rectangle shape), such as the small square shaped GBA boxart and horizontal N64 boxart, adjusting coverflow allows you to compensate for this by reducing height and length of covers and even rotating them.

You can also adjust the color of boxart edges. When you apply boxart images for your games, the front and back may be covered but all of the edges are not. To change the colors, find the .ini file for the plugin you wish to have edge colors changed. This .ini file can be found under SD:WiiFlowplugins. For example, for my Nintendo 64 plugin (using not64), I would open not64.ini. Find or create the coverColor line and after the equals sign, enter the 6 digit code for your chosen color. There are only 6 colors to choose from and they are listed below:

CodeColor
ff0000Red
000000Black
ffffffWhite
fcff00Yellow
01a300Lime Green
00E360(Dark) Green

For my N64 plugin, I have coverColor=ff0000 so that my N64 game covers have red edges as seen here.

Note: If you decided to enable the same coverflow for multiple plugins (i.e. more than one plugins have the same emuflow value), then the adjustments made to the coverflow will be present on all of those plugins. For example, my GBA coverflow has the game covers reduced in height. Applying the same coverflow to my GameCube library would also reduce the height for those GameCube game covers. It is best to assign different coverflows for each plugin that has a differently sized case.

5. Nintendont through WiiFlow, using a physical memory card

The master modpack of WiiFlow created by Abz includes Nintendont which is a fantastic GameCube loader. A feature of Nintendont is that it can create a virtual memory card on your SD card for your GameCube saves. If you're someone like me that has a physical GameCube memory card, you might prefer to use that over the SD card. In order to enable the use of the physical memory card, follow the steps below.

Find your wiiflow.ini file found under SD:appswiiflow directory and open it with your preferred text editor. Find the [DML]header and somewhere under that header, add the following: dml_nmm=0. In addition, you might also need to delete the gameconfig2.ini file found under SD:WiiFlowsettings to reset the defaults. Lastly, when you are browsing your GameCube library in WiiFlow, each game will have a gear icon when selected. This gear takes you to the game's settings and you should leave the NMM and Devoluition Memcard Emulator option to their default settings, which should be Default and Off, respectively.

You may need to delete the gameconfig2.ini found under SD:WiiFlowsettings to reset the defaults. Also, each GameCube game has a gear icon when selected in WiiFlow; in these options, keep the NMM and memcard emulator on its default setting.

  • The theme in the masterpack can be edited. For example, I did not like the settings menu background and so I replaced SD:WiiFlowthemesCarbonik Abzcarbonik.png with another image and this was the result.

  • If you have cover art for your games in SD:WiiFlowboxcovers and would like to change or edit them, replace the files and delete the cached versions found in SD:WiiFlowCache.

  • If WiiFlow crashes or does not start up when played, delete the WiiFlow save found by going to: Wii Menu > Data Management > Save Data > Wii > WiiFlow
