If you have a softcopy study guide then there’s no harm in giving it out, so long as it is not a copyrighted book that is. It won’t help him get certified any cheaper as to take the CEH you have to either take a certified training class (with test voucher) or purchase the $800 self-study kit (with exam voucher). OP, the CEH isn’t something you can get without spending the money. In all honesty even if you had all the course material that comes with a class, or self study kit, you still can’t buy a test voucher without purchasing your own kit. It’s not like CompTIA.

I suggest you go to EC Council’s website – CEH v9 – and copy all the Modules with required bullets onto a WORD DOC – and then start filling in the spaces/blanks…each subject area could be derived from several sources – so find the sources and put that info in there – you’ll end up building your own study guide from the official list. Don’t wait too long – they may update the exam the nite before – but if you know the “most recent” material – you should be fine. This should take you 4-5 months of exam prep + find the labs they are teaching and use the tools and scripts that go with them…then apply with the application with “self-study” and wait about 3 to 5 weeks – and you can buy your voucher from their store online…
Anything FREE on the Internet is usually laced with malware…
